Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Rome. On arrival, we’ll transfer to our hotel for a four-night stay. On the way, we’ll pass by the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, the Baths of Caracalla, the Circus Maximus and the Basilica of Saint Mary Major.
Day 2
We'll spend the next few days exploring some of Rome's most iconic landmarks, starting today with a guided tour. We’ll head to the Vatican City to admire St Peter's Basilica from the outside, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, and St Peter's Square, a piazza framed by impressive colonnades and stunning fountains. We'll toss a coin into the iconic Trevi Fountain before stopping at Giolitti to taste its delicious ice cream - it's the oldest gelateria in the city and the same one visited by Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in the timeless classic ‘Roman Holiday’. The tour ends in Piazza Navona, an area popular with both tourists and locals.
Spend the rest of the afternoon soaking in the beauty of Rome, admiring the famous Fiumi Fountain designed by sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini. If you’re craving more sweet treats, try some cannoli (crispy fried pastry tubes generously filled with sweet ricotta cheese and dusted with powdered sugar). Or find a cosy spot at an outside café for some people-watching while sipping on a perfectly brewed espresso.
Day 3
No trip to Rome would be complete without a walk by the impressive Colosseum - Italy’s world-renowned classical site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Entry isn’t included, but there’ll be ample opportunity to return later. Our guided tour then proceeds to the Roman Forum and Piazza Venezia, followed by some free time to try some more delicious Italian food or for some souvenir shopping.
Day 4
Today is free to explore this fascinating city at your own pace.
Day 5
We’ll say "arrivederci" to Rome as we head southwards to Sorrento, our base for the next week on the glistening Amalfi Coast.
Day 6
Sorrento is a labyrinth of cobbled streets dotted with limoncello stands, gelato shops and lively street vendors. We’ll explore together, taking in highlights such as the greenery-draped 14th-century monastery, Chiostro di San Francesco. Soak up the sea views from Sorrento Park - with views of Mount Vesuvius in the distance.
After all that sightseeing, you might be feeling peckish. Perhaps opt for an afternoon of pizza-making at a local restaurant, where you’ll learn the art of creating delicious traditional Neapolitan pizzas. Delicioso.
Day 7
We head out to explore Pompeii today. This Roman resort town was buried in AD 79 by a sudden and massive eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Most of the locals weren’t able to escape and many reminders of their day-to-day life have been well preserved under thick layers of ash and lava.
Our guided tour will give us a glimpse into the lifestyle of this once thriving town. Many household items are on display to view - as they were hundreds of years ago - providing a fascinating insight into ancient Roman customs, art and trades. Even the walls themselves, with shops signs and graffiti of electoral propaganda, are completely compelling.
Day 8
Brace yourself for one of the world’s most spectacular and famous drives. Italy's Amalfi Coast is a 50km stretch of stunning coastline that winds its way along the Sorrentine Peninsula from Sorrento to Salerno.
Soak up the breathtaking seascapes at every twist and turn - you’ll want to keep your camera at the ready for this. Our first stop is pretty Positano, awash with pastel-painted houses clinging to the cliff edge. From here, we’ll take to the water and speed over to iconic Amalfi by boat, so you’ll have the added bonus of seeing the coastline from the sea. Later, we’ll return to Sorrento by boat.
Day 9
Today is at leisure to explore the tangled streets of Sorrento under your own steam. Perhaps join our optional excursion to mighty Mount Vesuvius to learn about the history and geology of this restless mountain. After, you’ll stop for a leisurely wine tasting and light lunch at a winery on the fertile slopes of the volcano. This famous Neapolitan wine, Lacrima Christi (tears of Christ), is grown right here giving the grapes a unique flavour.
Day 10
We’ll journey to the ‘jewel of the Bay of Naples’ - the idyllic island of Capri. As we approach by private boat, you’ll see the island’s famed limestone cliffs soaring from the sparkling blue water. Take in the sights of the island from the water on a private guided boat tour. We'll then travel up to Capri town via funicular for some free time to wander the harbour and many gelato shops or simply take in the fantastic views.
Day 11
Spend your final day soaking up the sights of Sorrento or perhaps wander down to one of the bathing platforms for a spot of relaxation. This evening we’ll enjoy a traditional farewell dinner together at a local restaurant on Sorrento Pier. The beautiful views across the sea will only enhance Sorrento’s renowned sunsets.
Day 12
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
